Reality Canty

Director, UX Research

Reality Canty is a cognitive (PhD, 2014, UIC) and learning scientist specializing in user research for the design of physical and display-based learning experiences. In 2012, while still a grad student, he co-founded a company that created an award-winning (Children’s Technology Review; Parent Magazine) app designed to foster social memories and visual-motor skill in toddlers.

In January 2017 he started dark D’UX, a user research and insights studio focused on optimizing design for marginalized user experiences. There, he leads three projects: a platform that raises indigenous thought leaders to address local and global issues, threats, and villains; a robotics and coding platform for middle and high school girls outside of Atlanta; and a platform that promotes statistical and computational thinking in marginalized communities using measurement activities and the open source language, R.
