Avoiding Blurry Innovation

September 15, 2017
3:00pm  -  3:50pm

Driving innovation most effectively by focusing on the right technologies and time horizons. “Near-Sighted Innovation” is a small incremental improvement that is not forward thinking enough and will be seen as old news once launched. You want to avoid myopia. “Far-Sighted Innovation” is like science fiction (think “The Jetsons”) and implementation would require technology that is not yet mature. You also want to avoid hyperopia. “20/20 Innovation” is the most effective because it focuses on emerging technologies that are mature enough to implement, but not yet used by all competitors in your industry.
