Kickstarter Superstar Speaks at Big Design 2014
Sandy Petersen (author of the original Call of Cthulhu role-playing game) made a triumphant return to tabletop games publishing (after a quarter century in “the digital wilderness”) with Cthulhu Wars, a stratgegy/horror board game based on Lovecraft’s classic Cthulhu Mythos. As with many of his personal creative endeavours these days, Sandy developed a highly successful campaign on Kickstarter to fund the production of Cthulhu Wars.
The Kickstarter campaign literally took this tabletop game over the top. Over US$1,400,000 was raised achieving over 3,500% of the initial target. This success allowed the creation of more figures (60), map expansions and additional scenario options.
