Crushing Constraints as a Marginalized Group

As designers, we take pride in what we do. Creating experiences to improve the lives of many despite the constraints of budgets, technology, and the like. Designers of marginalized backgrounds design & exist in an industry that begs to be reinvented while battling the constraints of the social system we know as the workplace. So, without a title how can we facilitate change? In this talk, we will reframe challenges within our social systems, from revealing opportunities for individual growth to harnessing the courage to ask for change within your organization.

Your Speaker

Combine design, nerd, and humor, and you have Shara Rosenbaum. She’s the newest Digital Product Designer at Dialexa, a technology services firm that designs and engineers custom products and platforms. When she’s not working, Shara takes on challenging roles, such as Lead UX designer, freelance consultant, wife, and mom.

Shara is a capable project manager, methodical designer, and skillful problem solver. Her visual design background allows her to consider and advocate for usability while maintaining a sophisticated design aesthetic.

Shara graduated with a BFA in Visual Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also has an MFA in Media Design from Full Sail University and recently became a certified UX Designer courtesy of Southern Methodist University’s certificate program.

Ask her any true crime trivia and Shara probably knows the answer. It’s one of her secret talents.
