Closing Plenary: How Can We Make Work Meaningful?
People want to spend more time on meaningful work and with teams who are engaged in making that happen. Projects where people’s skills and practice strengths are working well together to encourage people to learn, improve and thrive. However, we all get lost in the noise, speed, and deliverables of the day to day work that we forget about why we are working on a project in the first place. This results in feeling purposeless, stressed, unhealthy and in a state of “sleepwalking”.
To quote Bruce Lee – “Ever since I was a child I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one’s potential”
What if we:
- Could help develop potential by helping people define and practice “meaning” for self, team, project, and organization?
- Could structure and support continuous learning with tactical and strategic clarity for all?
- Openly discussed the projects you work on mattered and where the best work felt like play and the best play felt like work?
- Welcomed all disciplines to create a broader ‘community of aspiration’ and signed an implicit contract to make meaningful work for every project we put our hands to?
This keynote will explore how we can make practices to Make Meaningful Work to contribute to the core intention of wellness for people, work, projects, communities and economies for an enlightened future society.
