Designers and Developers: Combining forces to create great user experiences

Ever heard that old story that developers and designers don’t get along? It’s time to squash that myth. After all, we both want the same thing; to build amazing products, delight our end users, and grow in our craft. But when knee-deep in a project (and under deadlines) it can sometimes feel like we spend more energy arguing about details than building great products. This talk presents insights into what motivates designers and developers; and distills two years of interviews, experience, and insights from my experience working with talented back-end engineers, mobile developers, and front-end engineers. I’ll share stories from when engineering and design came head-to-head during our team’s beta builds, how we brainstorm and ideate together, and how we maintain healthy communication across disciplines. You’ll leave this talk with insights into diverse perspectives, and practical tips for how UX and Engineering can work together to build the best quality product and user experience.
