Ethical Content: It’s More than Dark Patterns
I explore the role of the content designer in making sure content in apps and websites is accurate, not misleading, not coercive, and beneficial to the user. I review ethically questionable content – both within dark interaction patterns and alone. Things like opt-out shaming, privacy policies, lack of inclusivity, etc. are all ethically questionable. I talk about what to do and what not to do, and offer general, high-level actions content people can take to ensure ethical content and interactions.
