Top 10 Things Every UX Unicorn Should Know About Content
This is a duo talk, with my partner in Content Crime, Hillary Accarizzi. We’re co-leads in Content within User Experience & Design, and see a lot of opportunity for cross-collaboration across not only within our own teams, but across disciplines. We’ve noticed that a lot of our product designers don’t know as much about content strategy or creation as they should. We’re not talking about content like white papers or blog posts or social media or marketing copy. We’re talking about the kind of content that makes software sing. Microcopy. Calls-to-action. Taxonomy. All wrapped up in a hierarchy that makes sense to a user and meets business goals. We’ve been doing a lot of co-creation with our product designers and have developed a few guidelines for working with content in an agile environment. We’ll share key information about UX content strategy and creation so those who don’t have dedicated content help can look like they do. We’ll touch on basic UX writing best practices, give an overview of how to create a content strategy and discuss information hierarchy. These are the types of tools all UX professionals could use in their toolbox.
We’ll also address how product designers on larger teams can collaborate with content experts in a cross-functional model. These are the types of tools all UX professionals could use in their toolbox.
