KEYNOTE: Social Impact through Design

Design is not merely a process to make things look beautiful — it also has the power to affect change. Design is currently playing a role in several fields, some of which might not seem typical or expected. The field of Human-Centered Design, specifically, is apt for pushing the boundaries of design into social and political spaces. Jessica Burnham, the Director of Design and Innovation Programs at Southern Methodist University, will walk through the steps of the Human-Centered Design process to show the breadth and value of design and will also share several examples of design on a social-impact level.
